Kimberly Jae Lampwork Beads, Jewelry & Accessories
Hold a piece of art glass up to the light, and you're instantly mesmerized and drawn in by the colors, the design, the weight and the shape. The same holds true, maybe even more so, with a glass bead.
There is magic involved in manipulating glass in front of a flame and coming away with an object of beauty, interest and a multitude of possibilities. It's rewarding, enlightening, inspiring, frustrating, hair-pulling, wallet-emptying and a completely satisfying way to CREATE!
I was first drawn to the flame when I took a week-long class in blacksmithing. But alas, putting a forge in my back yard would have made for unhappy neighbors. Then an opportunity arose to take a class learning lampwork (glass) bead making. The proverbial flame was fanned, and my interest was indeed piqued. It wasn't until I took my second class that the unquenchable desire to learn more, do more, make more, more, more more arose. Since then, I've been playing, experimenting, testing, re-testing and honing my skills to develop my own style and look.
Then came the jewelry making. Not having been a person that wore much jewelry, this was an interesting process. But because I'm a designer at heart, and I love working with metal, fibers, paper and anything else I can get my hands on, it was not so much a question of "What do I do next?" but rather, "What CAN I make next?" Then the inevitable question, "What...it's 2 a.m.? Where'd the time go?"
Loverly offers my beads and bead sets, as well as finished jewelry and accessories like lamp pulls, key rings and bottle stoppers. Enjoy!
