Our Story

Loverly is the dream venture of Kim Nelson and Ellen McBride, two pals who share a passion for all things vintage, creative and up-cycled (just to mention a few). After jumping at the opportunity to rent space in the cutest little shop in Hilton Village, with a most pleasant, gracious and gregarious shop owner, Pam Phillips, we looked at each other and said, "Now what?"

Kim was already a blossoming lampwork (glass) bead and jewelry artist, so it was natural to start building an inventory from there. With a collection of antique furniture, vintage linens, and accessories pulled from our own personal collections, as well as family and friends saying, "Here, you can sell this," we opened in March '07. Read more about our opening escapades.

From there, our inventory has grown and evolved. In addition to Ellen starting her own vintage-inspired jewelry line, we've found other wonderfully creative artists and goods to help round out Loverly's offerings. Our joy is in the hunt and discovery, whether it be at an estate sale, yard sale, online, of a new artist, or creations we dream up ourselves (and we have HUNDREDS of ideas!).

In our other lives, Ellen runs her own business, McBride Creative, as a copywriter and producer, providing compelling advertising and marketing copy for local and national clients. Kim is the creative director and partner in Koehler Nelson, a strategic graphic design studio. Both have worked together on many projects professionally and, in addition to their passions that drive Loverly, share similar esthetics and values when it comes to the advertising industry. Just one more thing that makes their bond stronger.
